Aaron Turner

Director of Commercial and New Construction Projects

Originally from Baltimore County, Maryland, Aaron began his journey in construction and community development at an early age. Inspired first by his father, who was passionate about building, was always building, and encouraged Aaron to be involved in the building process, then by the builders and architects who constructed his childhood home, Aaron eventually partnered with those builders, which allowed him to fully immerse himself in home construction.

Aaron’s vision extended beyond traditional homebuilding as he ventured into modular home construction and collaborated with community development corporations to revitalize neighborhoods, leaving a lasting impact on the communities he served.

In 2011, Aaron relocated to Florida, where he currently resides in downtown St. Petersburg. He gives back to the community in part through his involvement with Southeastern Guide Dogs –.he and his wife are puppy raisers, which means puppies will spend 14 months at their home learning the skills and behaviors they need to be successful in their formal career training back on campus.

In 2015, Aaron founded AJ Building Group. Under his leadership, the company earned and maintains LEED accreditation and OSHA 10 certification, designations that support his dedication to sustainability and safety in construction practices. As President, Aaron remains deeply involved in every aspect of the construction process.

Mike Kapkowski

Director of Residential and Remodeling Projects

Mike Kapkowski is a licensed General Contractor specializing in home remodeling and light commercial construction. Throughout his decades-long career, he has established himself as a trusted name in the construction industry, delivering exceptional results and exceeding client expectations.

Originally from Illinois, Mike relocated to Florida in the early 1990s, where he rediscovered his passion for transforming spaces into works of art. With a keen talent for remodeling, his repertoire includes kitchen and bathroom renovations, room additions, and more.

What really sets Mike apart is his incomparable eye for design. His innate ability to envision the potential of a space allows him to effortlessly create extraordinary designs that seamlessly blend functionality with aesthetics, resulting in spaces that are both beautiful and practical.

In addition to his residential ventures, Mike also excels in light commercial construction and tenant build-outs, catering to the unique and diverse needs of businesses. His dedication to quality craftsmanship and client satisfaction has only enhanced his reputation in the industry.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Mike is an avid golfer and a valued member of The Polywogs, a charitable golf organization based in St. Petersburg, FL. Since its inception in 1964, The Polywogs has been dedicated to supporting local charities, having donated over $2.5 million to date. Mike’s involvement in this organization reflects his commitment to giving back to the community and making a positive impact.

Melissa Parrill

Director of Operations

Melissa joined AJ Building Group in 2025 and plays a key role in keeping the company running smoothly day to day. As Director of Operations, she helps manage the behind-the-scenes work that keeps projects moving, supports communication across the team, and helps ensure clients have a consistent, well-organized experience from start to finish.

Originally from Seminole, Florida, Melissa is currently finishing her business degree at the University of South Florida. She brings a strong sense of organization, a thoughtful approach to problem-solving, and a steady presence to the team.
